Rensaku shunpoed to the courtyard of squad 2's barracks in search of his old memories."How did I get myself in this and why the hell am I working with these lowly shinigami!?" He asked himself, frustrated with how he was suddenly working for the enemy. Drawing his zanpaktou he wondered what Akuma had to contribute to the subject.I was thinking, maybe we could escape like we did the last time; we won't have to look back either. So, what do you think? Just say the word and we're out of here." He said, a little bit hesitant when he thought of how the Captain-Commander would feel about him just dashing on everyone like that. He later realized that he didn't care about how other people felt, especially shinigami. "As long as you're fighting in my good name then I don't care what you do." He replied, disappointing Ren as that wasn't the answer he was looking for. Suddenly, his other half, Hiru butted into the conversation to give his thoughts on the situation. "Well I think we should just stick around, and besides, you don't sound like you want to leave anyway." His nostrils flared up as he struggled to mentally block out his brother. "No, I do want to leave. I cant stand being around these creatures with their forced loyalty rules and their so called selfishness... If they were so upstanding and for the civilians then why did I have all this crap happen to us with no one coming to aid us. He started flailing his arms around angrily."How did I even get here in the first place." His mind stared rewinding time to moment he launched his escape plan.

[Flash Back]

There he was, knife in hand and his gear neatly strapped on to his back. He had an all navy-blue outfit and was mentally equipped with all the training he had received up to this point. "Ok, here we go." He made haste toward the exit, keeping caution on his mind as he kept an eye out for anyone who'd try to capture him. Before leaving Ren looked back briefly then opened up a gate to the world. "Well that's it then." He said, walking through, starting his new life among the humans in his gigai. It was years later that he joined a martial arts group as combat was what he was accustomed to. A few months later he gave up his class to become somewhat of a bounty hunter. A year and a half later he found a guy who he offered to make one of his own, but then that's when the Captain-Commander showed up accompanied by another captain. Unfortunately he was outnumbered and outmatched so he had no choice but to comply when the asked him to join squad 2 and to become better than his previous Captain. After that he found himself in the Quincy war, being assigned to fight in the lower reaches where demon like souls could be found. It was also there that he met that Quincy girl who at first wanted to kill him, but some how it all worked out. Finally it was over so he returned to Soul Society to be trained to use his bankai. And here he was now, nearly on the same level as a captain and still as hateful as ever. "Darn that old man, making me one of his tools to use on his whims."

"Tsundere." Hiru said teasingly as he started chuckling. "I.. am.. not.. a tsundere...." He said, taking deep breaths to try and keep his cool though he couldn't do anything about it anyway as there was no way for him to punch people that were apart of the mind. He could hit himself but then... yeah, that's a bad idea. "Oh really? Remember that time when you helped this one guy who would have otherwise died? Yeah, I remember you treating him poorly because he's a shinigami but yet you were so willing to help him anyway." Ren sighed before giving his retort."You know what, he was stronger than me which made him a useful asset and if it wasn't for that I'd have left him there on the ground." He said angrily, folding his arms."So there you go."

"You and I both know that wasn't true, I could tell you were feeling bad for the guy and didn't want him to die but you put on a tough act. Ha, classical tsundere." He balled his fist, ready to strangle anyone that just so happened to be in the vicinity."Shut up!" His face turned red. "I'm so through with you, your reactions are always the best." Ren grunted as he started trying to mentally repress and block Hiru. "Hey, what are you doing? Look, I understand, you still have some hate for these people but seriously, how long are you going to hold on to that rage of yours? It's eating you alive man just look at yourself.. You're going to drive yourself crazy if you keep going on like this. At least try to get along with these people and it's just like the Captain-Commander said, you can get your second round with the one who's really responsible for what happened so many years back. Deal?" Hiru asked seriously."Well I'll be, this is the first time you were ever serious about something. Ok fine, I'll bite but just this one time. If anything goes wrong and I don't like it, I'm getting out of dodge and I am not going back no matter how much these people beg me."

Rensaku turned to look at the sky."So what do we do now, it's not like we made plans or anything like that." He looked around before sitting."Well if you'd attend the meetings you would know."

"I don't attend meetings, meetings attend me." He said boldly, knowing how ridiculous that statement was but he'd never admit it. "What are you Chuck Norris now, no, you need to go to your meetings so you'll be up to date with everything." He rubbed his chin as he thought about what Hiru had said. "Yeeah, I can see how that'd be helpful, especially since I'm in the dark with everything." He then drew his sword to start training his swordsmanship so he'd be better prepared to face the Quincies if they ever tried to attack again. He held his sword over head, gripped his sword then swung down vertically, sending a wave of fire down the field. Ren shunpoed ahead of the attack to intercept and stop it in its place, swinging horizontally as he sent a counter wave of fire at it. Both attacks met before parting in every direction as one arc tried to overtake the other. Eventually the flames died out as they had no more power to continue pushing forward. "I need more power, this is barely enough to dent a Gillian class hollow, much less an Arrancar." He started gathering energy from any place that generated heat, gathering it near his sword as he tried to focus the energy into fire. The air around the blade started swirling around, distorting the air as a flame started growing but ended up dying out before he could do anything with it. "I'll need to work on that more, maybe I can further my powers through meditation." He said, sitting on the ground, crossing his legs together as he place his hands together to prepare himself to dive far into his mind. He took a few deep breaths, imagining a fire being lit in the center of his chest; He then slowly focused on increasing the fire's side until it covered his entire body. Soon his imagination had manifested itself into the real world, surrounding him in a crimson flame that blocked anyone from seeing him. He then imagined himself in the world of his zanpaktou, a fiery domain with an almost endless flight of stairs that led to Akuma's throne. Eventually Ren's mental state had drifted from the reality of Soul Society to the reality of the zan world where he met with Akuma. "I need strength, but I'm not sure how exactly to do that, did you have anything in mind? Anything will help as long as it isn't something ridiculous like hitting something as hard as I can." His zan looked at him for a moment then gave an answer that he thought would help,"Well why don't you just prioritize on skill over the other, that way you'll grow more powerful at a much faster rate." He thought about it for a moment before he agreed with him."You know what? You're right, but I'd much rather stay balanced for now."

"But you're literally maxed out on stamina.. Any hope of balance was lost a long time ago." Ren twiddled his thumbs."You're paying to much attention to details. I'm sorta balanced when you look at all the other skills that are almost equal. just.. lets forget this, I hate breaking the fourth wall. There's something uneasy about it." He said, leaving the figment of his mind behind, opening his eyes to the real world.

Still in his meditation position, Ren stood up, did a few stretches and started thinking about his mission plan. There had to of been something for him to do, but he just couldn't remember what that was. "Why am I here again? My last mission was to learn bankai but after that I wasn't actually given any other assignment. Am I to then assume that I'm on stand by mode until further notice?" He noticed that he seemed to be asking more questions than he had answers to and wondered,"Dang it man, being here with these shinigami is seriously corrupting my mind... I swear I was much sharper than this when I was on the solo road." He said, look at the palms of his hand before creating an orb of fire in his dominant hand. With a bit of concentration he was able to turn the fire from an orange to a bright red."Well, this isn't my limit but it will certainly get the point across." He wondered where the Captain-Commander, or at least where the Captain was so he could get an assignment; Anything was better than just sitting around in the courtyard of his squad barracks, twiddling his thumbs and having side conversations with his zan as well as his other half. "You know what, that's it, I'm going Captain hunting." He said before taking off in search of either the Commander or either of the captains, but before he left Hiru stopped him for a side conversation. "Well if you must know, they're most likely busy dealing with the Quincy war. You're more likely to find your own special, solo mission than you are to actually find them. Show some initiative and find something to do like taking care of Borja clan or tending to the needs of Soul Society. It'll be like old times except, I'm here so it won't exactly be a solo mission." Ren, interested by his declaration of a better way to pass time, he spoke."Finally, something fun to do, but where shall we start? Actually, don't answer that, I'll just figure it out by myself." He said, grabbing essential supplies before shunpoing elsewhere to begin his mission.
